About Us
Outwood CBS Ltd was formed as a Company Limited by Guarantee (non-shareholding/non-profit) by a group of committed local volunteers to try and save our much-loved village pub, called 'The Castle Inn'. The pub is currently closed, and our aim is for the community to purchase it and run it by and for the community as a vibrant local community ‘hub’. Pub food and drink would be the core offerings, with a wider (yet practicable) range of products and services would being made available to the local and wider community. These could include (for example): a shop for day-to-day essential items; daytime café; local clubs and societies meeting venue; prescription pick-up point; local post office services; after-school club; meeting point for parents of local children; drop-in centre for vulnerable, older and/or lonely residents; and so on. Our overall vision is for The Castle to serve as a hugely significant asset and resource for both the local and wider community, including those for whom ‘the village pub’ is an important meeting place, focal point and social outlet.
